Wildlife
Dallas is home to many different species of wild animals – bobcats, coyotes, foxes, opossums, skunks and others. You can take steps to deter them from taking up residence in your yard or attic.
- Protect small pets – don’t allow them outside unattended from dusk to early morning
- Don’t provide food for wild animals – keep garbage containers closed, bring in pet food at night, store compost in closed bins, pick up fallen fruit under trees
- Don’t give wild animals a place to nest – keep weeds and grass cut short especially near fences and walls, store firewood in proper bins, seal crawl spaces under your home, seal holes in eaves and roof, seal off access under decks, keep shed doors and garage doors closed
- DFW Wildlife Coalition
If you find a dead animal, call 3-1-1 to schedule a pickup. Visit Special Collections for more information.
