Halloween Parade

Thank you to all who attended the Disney Streets Halloween Parade. The parade tradition began 31 years ago in the Disney Streets, but has grown over the years to include all of NPNA. We hope you and your little ghosts and goblins had a great time!

Last Friday First Call

The October event was a great success with about 50 neighbors braving the chilly weather to enjoy conversation and laughs. Thank you, Jeanie Feeney and Garry Leigh, for hosting and letting us enjoy your beautiful gardens. And thank you, section 10 director Louise Smith, for coordinating the event.

Me, Myself & I, a luncheon group for Northaven women who are single, divorced or widowed, met in October at Fernando’s Mexican. We meet the third Tuesday of the month and enjoy meeting our neighbors.

Fall Membership Meeting

Thank you to all who attended the Fall NPNA Meeting on October 12. Over 120 attended. Among the speakers and their topics of discussion were: 
   – Wendy Miller, Withers Elementary principal: recent physical and technological improvements to the school
   –  Jeff Kitner, Friends of Northaven Trail president: ground breaking for the portion of the trail going through our neighborhood should be before the end of the year
   – Deputy Chief Catrina Shead, Northwest Division commander: update about recent home invasion and other incidents in the neighborhood
   – Jennifer S. Gates, District 13 Dallas City Council: AirBNB home in neighborhood, upcoming city bond election, City Council actions regarding Confederate statues and street names. 
 
Thank you to the volunteers who assisted with the meeting and those who form the NPNA Board of Directors. These volunteers invest a significant portion of their time and energy to make NPNA the best neighborhood in Dallas.

October Coffee Klatch

About 30 neighbors enjoyed coffee and pastries at the home of Bernie and Maureen Clements. Thank you, Bernie and Maureen, for opening your lovely home. The next Coffee Klatch will be in December. Watch for details soon.

Football, Chili, and Pie

The Moms Group enjoyed a Cowboy Game/Chili/Pie Party in October. 16 Moms Group members and their children attended (57). Chili and pies were brought by neighbors with 1st & 2nd place prizes awarded for the Best Chili and Best Pie. Thank you, Stu & Sara Pauley, for hosting.

Withers Wildcat Prowl 5K and Fun Run

NPNA was again a sponsor of the Withers 5K Prowl & Fun Run held on October 7. Volunteers from NPNA manned 3 water stations for the participants.

National Night Out/ Ice Cream Social

What a fun event – even if we had to stand in the drizzle. Everyone brought an umbrella and seemed happy to attend. I’m sorry the weather prevented some of you from attending. Will hope for better weather next year. The Braum’s ice cream was delicious. Thanks to all of you sending in your RSVP.
